Papers - Mom's Interview

Wrenshall School will be losing one of its finest teachers at the end of the year. She has taught here for 34 years and leaves the school with a lot of knowledge. Mrs. Chris Grover has decided to retire.

Chris was born October 24, 1950 to Kermit and Gloria Thoreson of Carlton. She is the oldest of four children. She graduated from Carlton High School in 1968 and went to get her teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. After earning her degree, she moved to Ely, MN for a year and taught sixth grade, but realized she was living to far away from her high school sweetheart, Greg. The got married December 29, 1973. Greg is the owner of Grover’s Excavating and Trucking located in Carlton. Chris joined the Wrenshall Staff in 1974 and has taught grades 1-6.

In November 1985, Greg and Chris received a little miracle in their life. They adopted a little girl whom everyone knows as Stephanie. Stephanie is a 2004 graduated of Wrenshall School and will be graduating from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on May 17, 2008 with a degree in Marketing Communications and Business Administration.

Chris and Greg currently live in Carlton on Hay Lake. They have 40 acres and the land is good for walking, jogging, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. She partakes in these activities almost every day with the family black lab, Star.

Once she retires she plans on lying by the pool in the back yard and working in her flower gardens during the summer. In the winters, they are going to travel in their new “tour bus.” The couple plans to go all over the United States. Once Greg retires, they will travel a lot more than in the winters.

Please join us on June 21, 2008 at the Grover’s home, as we celebrate the dedication Chris has brought to the school for the past 34 years. Not only is this a retirement party for Chris, it will also serve as a college graduation party for Stephanie. It is the end of a beginning.
